Connection through education

Community Partnerships

PFI’s Community Partnerships Program aims to reach out groups in the greater Portland area by providing free art and design classes and resources to youth and their families.
Our Mission

Why Partnerships Work

Community Outreach

Inspire young people from diverse backgrounds to make fashion design, production and promotion a part of their lives.

Local Connections

Inspire young people from diverse backgrounds to make fashion design, production and promotion a part of their lives.

Nurturing Opportunities

Inform young people about fashion and apparel career opportunities.

The program first launched in 2021 with a an Inspiring Diversity Grant from Prosper Portland. PFI and AltarPDX joined forces to create an apparel production training program for at-risk, underserved youth in an alternative public school. The program trained BIPOC youth in the skills needed for high-demand jobs with market-rate wages. Subsequent programs are individually crafted with the host organization in much the same way as the 2021 program.
