Color Theory

Discover color and its implications for designers and artists.

Study ideas of space and the use of color to solve spatial problems. Look at color harmony and the way colors interact, as well as color qualities and combinations.

Upon completion of the class, you will know how to:

— Develop a working understanding of the essential traits of color.

— Establish and demonstrate practicable strategies for selecting color palettes and concept-driven color harmonies.

— Establish and demonstrate skill in color mixing and color discernment.

— Understand contemporary color specification systems such as Pantone (PMS), RGB, CMYK, CIE.

— Use of color in apparel design.

— Apply the physics of color (light), the chemistry of color (pigment), and the impact of color (psychology).

Supply list: All you need to bring to the first class is a pen/pencil and a notepad.  A laptop or tablet will help you in your research.  The instructor will suggest other supplies to bring throughout the class.
