Erin Clutinger

Tell us a little bit about yourself.   I am enjoying living a dual work life, both as a nurse and an alterations specialist at Duchess Clothier. I get to have the best of both worlds! When not working, you’ll find me cooking, reading, sewing/knitting, and hanging out with my partner Danny and our fur kids, Victoria (mischievous cat) and Watson (sweet and very energetic chocolate lab).

What was your focus at PFI? Sewing, patternmaking, draping

What certification or classes did you do?  I received certificates in both Apparel Design and Apparel Technical Development. I think I took close to every class offered at PFI!

Where are you working now and what is your position? I am currently working in alterations at Duchess Clothier. We work with clients to create custom, made to measure suits, separates, footwear and accessories.

How did you decide to do what you’re doing? A former Duchess employee did a talk at PFI about his position and I remember thinking at the time what an amazing job that would be.  When a part time position opened there I jumped at the chance and am so happy I did!

What’s your favorite part of your job? I’m part of an amazing team whose goal is to make clients feel confident and beautiful. Seeing clients’ reactions when their clothes make them feel this way is so rewarding. Plus, I get to spend my days sewing!

What advice would you have for individuals considering a career in fashion? There’s so many different avenues you could take in the fashion industry. Find a way to do what you love!
