Surface Design-AD411

Surface Design-AD411

Open the door to four creative ways to create your own fabric print designs.

Screen print a design of your choice onto fabric with a photo emulsion technique allowing you to create a durable screen quickly with an image with fine lines and detail. Class will begin with burning your image onto a pretreated screen. The rest of class time will be spent printing and experimenting with color and technique.

Screen printing can be used to print onto sewn garments such as T-shirts or hoodies or to create yardage. Instructor will provide acetate to copy your image onto for the photo emulsion technique, card stock for the stencil, photo emulsion, tape and a light box to develop the screen. Students will need images, fabric, textile ink, a screen printing screen, a squeegee and an apron.

The rest of class time will be spent printing and experimenting with color and technique through monoprinting, block printing and stamping, shibori fabric dyeing and batik painting.
