LA TEXTILE TRIP – March 6, 2018

March 6, 2018

If you love fashion, fabric and fun, this is the trip for you.

Here is your chance to get behind locked doors and discover the secret wholesale suppliers in the Los Angeles fabric district.

Portland Fashion Institute travels to LA twice a year to visit our fabric suppliers and the textile shows.  Now we are sharing some of that knowledge and those contacts with you.  After you have made these contacts, you’ll be able to start exploring and enjoying LA on your own in future visits.

We are keeping the group small and exclusive so we can go to places not available to larger groups.  Space is limited to 12 so don’t delay in registering.  Minimum age is 18 years.

Your guide is PFI director Sharon Blair, an experienced and knowledgeable teacher and tour leader.  Fly in on Sunday.  We will meet Sunday evening at a hotel near the fabric and fashion district for a get-acquainted dinner. The next day you will take a shuttle visit the LA Textile show at CalMart with talks and visits with LA apparel experts.  That same afternoon, you’ll take a walking tour of the fabric district to visit wholesale houses and a sewing contractor.  If time allows, we’ll visit the wonderful FIDM costume museum.  This tour requires a significant amount of walking.  Fly out the next day with a list of contacts, fabrics and memories!

Tour price:  $415 (price does not include air fare)

Single room supplement:  Add $195

Tour includes:

  • 2 nights at the DoubleTree downtown
  • Daily hot breakfast buffet
  • Get acquainted dinner reception
  • Admission to LA Textile Trade Show, exhibits and presentations
  • Shopping trip to selected stores in LA fabric district with shopping trip to Santee Alley
  • Special visit to a production facility

“Thank you so much for all your help and insights. We learned so much in our visit to the LA fashion district. And we had fun!” – Charisa C
